about
A good friend of a good friend of mine was awaiting a liver transplant. After months of hope, including a liver, that at the last minute, after he was already being prepped for surgery, was discovered to be unusable, a new donor was finally found. All of his family and friends were filled with new hope. Then, deep into the hours long operation, he died on the operating table late Sunday night.
My friend told me this story Monday night after apologizing for having not been his best self earlier in the day.
The story really stuck with me and kinda sank into my bones a litter deeper than usual, especially given that I didn’t even know the guy.
That whole part about the roller coaster of hope crescendoing to a great high, then plummeting to the lowest of lows.
It made me think of other things, and other people I have lost and how it’s so unfathomably incredible that we ever get to live in the first place.
When I sat down at the piano at about 3am, this song came out with very little effort.
I’m sure there are many songs with the same title and the same subject, you know, because I checked, but sometimes I think it’s ok to keep things simple.

One More Yesterday
================
2018 Merkley???
One more night.
One more day.
One more small delay.
One more mile.
One more smile.
One more grand ballet.
One more…
One more…
One more yesterday.
One more song.
One more dance.
One more first romance.
One more kiss.
One more glance.
One more second chance.
One more…
One more….
One more yesterday.
One more…
One more…
One more yesterday.
